Conny was born and educated in Germany and rather than taking a conventional route into University she took up a management traineeship at ITT, a major IT and Electronic company, where she gained a thorough grounding in management principles and practice.
She subsequently worked in education at Pembrokeshire College where she lectured in arts administration. She then gained an MBA from the University of Glamorgan in 1997 before joining Lampeter as a Lectorer. She became Senior Lecturer and Head of the Department of Management and Information Technology where she has pursued her management interests. She is currently studying for a doctorate in education at the University of Sheffield.
Conny has made use of her management and marketing skills in the voluntary sector serving on a number of boards and organisations. She has been involved in mentoring voluntary and community groups on their strategic development and was also a board member for Artscare/Gofal Celf, a social enterprise organisation. She believes in injecting management principles into higher education to enable students to become more in touch with their communities and retaining a grasp on how Community and Social Enterprises interact with education and training institutions.
In addition to her responsibilities as head of department in Mangement and Information Technology (MIT) Conny is also head of Voluntary Sector Studies.
