Many students are eligible for some sort of funding like fee-waivers or grants. You are considered a home student if you have been resident in the UK or EU (or Switzerland) for at least three years when you commence your studies.
For the 2009/10 academic year (1 August 2009 - 31 July 2010) home student fees are:
£115 per 10 credits.
You are considered an international student if you have not been resident in the UK or EU (or Switzerland) for at least three years when you commence your studies.
For the 2009/10 academic year (1 August 2009 - 31 July 2010) international student fees are:
£378 per 10 credits.
Fees for our part-time postgraduate diploma (leading to an MA) are:
£1,130 (per year) for home (UK/EU) students.
£3,573 (per year) for international students.
To be eligible for a fee waiver, students must fulfil at least one of the following criteria:
When applying for a fee-waiver you will be required to send evidence (photocopy) of current benefit/s received.
UK resident part-time undergraduate students studying at least 50% (60 credits a year) of an equivalent full-time course are entitled to receive a Fee/Course Grant, depending on your household income. Fee and Course grants do not need to be repaid.
There are three different rates of fee grant depending on how intensive you wish your course of study to be. For example, if you study at a rate equivalent to 75% (90 credits a year) of a full-time course, you could qualify for a higher fee grant than a student studying at a rate equivalent to 50% (60 credits a year) of a full-time course. The table below sets out the maximum fee grant that you could get:

Students who already have a degree cannot normally apply for this support.

If you have an impairment, health condition (including a mental health condition) or specific learning difficulty like dyslexia, you may be entitled to claim extra financial help as a student. This is paid on top of anything you get through the standard student finance package.

If you decide, for whatever reason, not to continue with your programme of study you will receive a full refund of any fees paid, if you let us know and return any course materials and/or library books within one month of your start date.
After a month you may be eligible for a partial refund, please contact the department for more information.
