Introduction to Information Technology is a prerequisite to Information Technology II.
Introduction to Information Technology (IT Skills) is a beginners guide to using a computer effectively for day-to-day tasks. The course is divided into three 'hands on' practical Units, each examining specific areas of modern computing, namely using Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word and the Internet. The Module is written with the complete novice in mind and assumes absolutely no prior knowledge of computing. Plain language is used to define and describe processes and procedures and jargon is avoided whenever possible. The Module is very practical in nature and for this reason, access to a computer is required.
Starting with the basics, the course is designed to build confidence, knowledge and ultimately a broad understanding of the fundamental aspects of using a computer. Numerous illustrated examples and step-by-step instructions are provided to ensure that users obtain maximum benefit from using their computers. The individual Units build on previously covered material and go on to cover some more advanced aspects of computing. This Module is suitable for anybody who wishes to learn computing fundamentals from scratch and also for intermediate users who wish to increase their knowledge and effectiveness with regards to using a computer.
