Course Description:

This course introduces the student to two major aspects of business information technology: Spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel) and Databases (Microsoft Access). It is designed either for intermediate students who will have completed Information Technology One, or those students who already possess sufficient word processing and Internet skills and who wish to extend their knowledge into other areas. The course covers many commonly used features of both Excel and Access. These include:

  • Creating spreadheet formulas
  • Basic Accounting
  • Data Analysis
  • Charts and graphs
  • Data management
  • Organisation of data
  • Relationships between data types
  • Producing queries, tables, forms and reports
  • Producing simple macros

In an increasingly computer-literate world it is important that everyone has some idea of the range of possibilities opened up through the use of computer technology. This course offers a predominantly practical course providing the confidence to store, analyse and present data in a clear and professional manner.
